Welcome!

Welcome to the newly created Navarre urban farmers informational blog.

Here is what Navarre Urban Farmers is all about…

The Navarre Urban Farmers concept is about creating a central place to connect like minded people interested in simple sustainable organic farm &  gardening practices in an suburban/urban setting(your backyard!)

We are a non profit group attempting to create a network for sharing selling or bartering homemade goods and services. It’s about sharing ideas, idealism, practices, connections etc. to make our part of the world a better place to live and exist ultimately creating a true vibrant community of people like you passionate about living a more whole lifestyle!

The concept is three parts…maybe more!

1.) Networking a group of families who want to participate in growing specific amount of items for the group, to be combined(with others doing the same) and divided equally amongst those participating.  For example: Say we have a group of 10 families. (A) We all come together and agree on the seasonal vegetables (B) We agree to grow and then calculate how much to plant to divide equally amongst the group. (C) Plant & cultivate a portion of your garden for the group (D) At harvest time the group agrees to meet weekly, bring the fresh picked items, and each take home a variety of locally grown vegetables. All free of charge…

2.) Connect all of us together to share information, goods, and practical living ideas.

3.) At a minimum this blog will connect those of us here in Navarre, interested in a more healthy organic homemade DIY way of living and hopefully assist each other in obtaining local fresh foods eggs cheeses wine beef  honey jams canned goods talents skills etc. etc.

Living in the world of everything processed combined with difficult economic times have caused an explosion of home gardening and farming techniques to help families eat healthier and save money. We hope this blog will help you find most what you need locally, to support local growers/ artisans/ like minded individuals, and begin a journey of healthy whole food consumption.

Thanks for visiting, DJ & Stephanie Stone
